As you know, Woody Thompson has already served Cobb County District 4 as Commissioner from 1997 through 2004. During his tenure, District 4 realized its healthiest growth in decades:
Woody proudly presided over the site selection and funding for the new South Cobb Regional Library.
Arranged additional funding (to the $6M granted by Gov Barnes) of $1M to complete the Mable House Amphitheater.
Woody presided over the entirety of the South Cobb Recreation Center project on Six Flags Drive, from conception to completion, which includes a recreation center, Boys and Girls Club, County Health Department, and Aquatics center.
Woody helped make sure that the Aquatics Center was built with CDBG funds instead of tax dollars.
In a stellar example of his relationship with state level administration, Woody facilitated the completion of the Silver Comet Trail through South Cobb, including acquisition of funding ($1 Million) for the Silver Comet trail bridge over C.H. James Parkway.
The Completion of the East-West Connector is a highlight of Woody’s time in office.
Woody established Georgia’s 1st Enterprise Zone in South Cobb, which resulted in 57M in investment, 475 new jobs, and $20 Million in new payrolls.
